Letter: Eminent domain shouldn’t be an option

I don't understand how a private business can use the rule of eminent domain to take privately owned land to bury a hazardous liquid pipeline. How could it be considered for public good? It can only be for the good of the oil company that wants it.
Will it benefit the farmers as it disrupts their fields and leaves hazardous liquid flowing underground?
I can't imagine how much the pipeline and money spent for the right of way would cost. And who will pay for that in the long run? We will, or the Chinese, where they are apparently planning to send it.
I hope we stand firm and refuse them permission to use eminent domain.
