Letter: Elect Gary Hinzman for mayor

I have known Gary Hinzman for about 40 years. I worked with and for him on the Cedar Rapids Police Department. He worked his way through the ranks and positions to become chief of the department. He then worked as the administrator of the 6th District Corrections facilities for over 20 years. My observation of Gary Hinzman is that he has vast experience and knowledge in the criminal justice system as well as city and state government. He has initiated and supported numerous programs to further positive results for the community. I have observed his work in establishing yearly training for officers above and beyond the required standards, increased personnel through a Reserve Program, and ground level establishment of community policing efforts to establish partnerships to combat criminal activities.

He is the best qualified candidate for mayor of Cedar Rapids to move the community in a positive direction for the future. Vote Hinzman for mayor of Cedar Rapids.
