Letter: Easy to see through Putin’s words

Regarding The Gazette's Dec. 31 front page 'Putin, looking ahead, opts to pull punches”:
Is this the new normal? People who grew up during the Cold War and ones with knowledge of history easily see through Putin's words. He is old-school KGB. He retaliates in secret. He is a liar, a thug, a puppet master, very knowledgeable in western psychology and behavior, manipulative, etc. The news article belonged closer to the opinion page and with more caveats on believing it.
Putting these articles on the front page gives normalcy to Putin. It sweeps under the table the fact that he attacked the U.S. If this had happened 4 years ago, we would be in a war! Now, ‘ehh'.
It does make people wonder. Did Putin hack the Republicans? And is he blackmailing them? Putin hacks everyone!
