Poor Justice Antonin Scalia's family. Before they could begin to grieve for their beloved husband, father and grandfather, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announces that he and the Republican-controlled Senate will block anyone whom our president nominates to replace Scalia. If you want to know my opinion on this, read Sen. Elizabeth Warren's response.
Sen. Ted Cruz also thinks the replacement of Scalia should wait for one more year. He must have forgotten that President Barack Obama was elected twice. Cruz talks about following the U.S. Constitution, but our forefathers did not say that a president in his last year cannot make a nomination to the court.
Marco Rubio blames President Bill Clinton for the murder of innocent people in the twin towers on 9/11. Evidently, he wants to set a new precedent for holding presidents accountable. He must want to be held accountable for future presidents' actions, if he becomes president.
Remember, the Republican-controlled Congress has a 16 percent approval rate, according to polls of American citizens. President Obama's approval rate is 47 percent. Look at the voting record of whomever you are considering voting for.
If you are sick of the divisiveness in politics, remember what McConnell said upon the death of a Supreme Court justice. Also, remember that he said his goal as leader of the Senate was to make sure that the president elected by the American people, would not win a second election. That was his goal and he failed.
