Letter: Diversity makes the world a better place

Last week my wife and I took our grandson on his first visit to Chicago on his spring break. One of our first destinations was the Shedd Aquarium to see their wonderful displays of nature's underwater life. It was quite crowded with noisy school children and families. We heard many languages spoken, but the shouts of awe and excitement by the children were universal.

The tanks of fish in both saltwater and freshwater showed different and beautiful fish of many sizes, shapes and colors. The diversity of nature's underwater life was amazing and so beautiful. Thinking about what we were sharing with the other visitors, I asked my grandson to look around the room and to tell me which side of the fish tanks - the dry or the wet sides - held the greater diversity. He thought about the question for a few moments and replied that the dry side of the glass - the visitors - held the greater diversity,

I would like to invite our congressman Steve King to visit the Shedd Aquarium and witness and appreciate nature's diversity on both sides of the glass, the creatures of the sea and the children of the land - both nature's creation and both beautiful because of the variety that has evolved. Our world is a better place because of it.

Congressman King: please be my guest for an enlightening experience. Let me know when you can attend the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and I will have passes waiting for you and a guest.
