Letter: Coralville needs debt counseling

Coralville has maxed out its credit cards, saddled its residents with the most amount of debt in the state, made massive abuses of TIF project funding, continues to sink its own bond ratings and continues to double-down on poor financial decisions.
And now it wants more state tax dollars to fund more projects that do nothing for regional tourism other than to pillage Cedar Rapids and Linn County from their own projects. But when they demand more county tax dollars to leverage state and local tax dollars, that's where I draw the line.
Please, supervisors, take a Dave Ramsey course or two and stop this madness. We already have the highest tax rates in the state and these project dollars are best suited for cities that have better track records with managing money. At some point people have to realize that the county should not be involved in this type of economic development extortion.
