Letter: Commend Starcevich for his leadership

Speaking for several members of our fine community and speaking of the article in The Gazette regarding Mick Starcevich and Kirkwood College; it would be an unusual person who hasn't unintentionally misspoken at one time or another ('Kirkwood president reprimanded in plagiarism,” Feb. 12).

Starcevich may have misspoken; however, we can look at the accomplishments he has made as president of Kirkwood College and be very proud he is a member of this community.

Did anyone ever think how far he has brought our fine Kirkwood College? People from all over the United States speak highly of Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids. We are proud it is so well thought of and proud that a person with high standards like Starcevich is leading that institution.

In the past, Starcevich did a wonderful job as superintendent of College Community Schools - we didn't want him to move on.

He has done a great job as president of Kirkwood Community College and needs to be commended for his leadership.
