Letter: Columnist missed an opportunity

One of The Gazette's columnists, Todd Dorman, wrote a column about his 11-year-old daughter being disappointed following Hillary Clinton's loss in the election. She was disappointed that a woman was not elected.
Dorman, I think, missed an opportunity to help her understand how one ought to determine one's opinion on who deserves one's vote. I think that he might have told her that it is not the sex or race or religion, etc., of a candidate, but, rather, that one would choose to vote for someone who shares one's values. She now will continue to believe that it is OK to vote for someone just because the candidate is a woman (or man). Too bad.
