Letter: Clinton e-mail scandal no surprise

I would like to state upfront that I do not know if Hillary Clinton did anything wrong when she decided to use her own server for email during her time as Secretary of State. Other people/courts will have to decide that.
What I would like to say is that her situation reminds me of the famous scene in Casablanca when Claude Rains' character says that he is shocked that there is gambling going on in Rick's Nightclub when we already know he is well aware of the situation.
The same is true of everyone in the federal government. The first time they received an email from Secretary Clinton, they could see her email address and that it was not a '.gov” address. That meant she was not using the government's server.
The fact that this is now an issue, when virtually everyone in the government knew about it the entire time she was secretary, makes the whole issue appear entirely partisan. They could have brought this up years ago, but decided not to do so until she declared herself a candidate for president of the United States. Suddenly everyone in the Republican party is shocked that she used a personal server. That certainly undermines their own credibility, as it did for Rains' character in Casablanca. Unfortunately, the current situation is not a laughing matter.
