Letter: City wrong to change downtown streets
Eileen McDermott
Apr. 4, 2017 1:00 am
Obviously, our city has learned absolutely nothing from changing some of the streets from one-way to two-way.
It's the biggest mess I've ever seen. You can't see around the parking lane cars to cross over Second or Third avenues. The 19-year-old quoted in the March 30 story 'New two-way designs unveiled for Cedar Rapids” who thinks it will improve traffic flow must not drive downtown. The 'traffic flow” is 100 times worse.
Most people avoid downtown at all costs and with changing the remaining streets to two-way will not bring life to downtown. The livelihood of downtown is gone and has been for years. I see it as another huge mistake our city is making.
