Letter: Cartoon inappropriate for daily newspaper

The Gazette encourages the use of newspapers in education, therefore it should monitor its content to make sure that the articles and comics published are of a G-rated quality, instead of R/PG-rated that need explanation to children and are things that one may not feel are appropriate at this venture in life.
On two successive Sundays were inappropriate comic strips that never should have been published in The Gazette. Their content was more for an adult magazine content than a family read newspaper.
On Oct. 29, in a PG-rated comic strip, one of the characters was stripping off her shirt in a sexual manner. On Sunday, Nov. 12, characters were having a sexual encounter when a person walks in, definitely R-rated. The comic in question is 9 Chickweed Lane. Why it has turned to a sexual comic is unknown, but what I do know is it is inappropriate in a family newspaper. There are definitely better choices for comics than this one. If this is a reflection of what The Gazette thinks is an appropriate comic for its readers then what does that say about The Gazette?
