Letter: Candidate might consider changing tune

In announcing her candidacy for U.S. Congress, Rep. Abby Finkenauer (D-Dubuque) said she's running because she 'isn't afraid to take on out-of-state corporate interests drowning out the voices of the rest of us.”
Really? Finkenauer vocally supported the Dakota Access pipeline - the biggest, baddest out-of-state corporate interest to kick around Iowans since the railroad barons of the 1800s. Finkenauer even accepted a $500 donation from Energy Transfer Partners - the Dakota Access pipeline's parent company. She also signed a letter to the Iowa Utilities Board last year opposing an independent environmental impact assessment of the pipeline.
With these actions, Finkenauer made it clear she was willing to - if I may paraphrase - help an out-of-state corporate interest drown out the voices of the rest of us. If she doesn't change her tune, Democrats would do well to recruit another candidate to square off against Congressman Rod Blum next year.
