Letter: Blum makes point about recession

So, Rod Blum commented that he thought it would be a good idea if there was a recession in Washington, D.C. I think he has a great point. Are our public servants supposed to be living in the lap of luxury? Public 'service” implies that one is making some type of sacrifice to serve the people of the country, not feathering their own nest.
In Wizard of Oz the people of the Emerald City all rode in carriages and dressed in high fashion and had nothing to do with the common people (the Lollipop Guild). The Wizard raged through his fire producing teleprompter, but really had no answers to the problems of the people. In the end, the answers to the people's problems rested with themselves.
Washington, D.C. does not need to be an Emerald City and the ruling class does not deserve to be pampered and removed from the economic stagnation that the rest of the country is suffering. A little recession in Washington, D.C. sounds like a pretty good wake up call to the bureaucrats who are squandering our wealth and crippling our economic growth.
I think Blum shows with his comment that he has not succumbed to the allure of the Washington elite. Keep it up, Rod!
