Letter: Athletes play for money and worship

Recently, a privileged few have decided to voice their displeasure with our president by not showing the respect that is due our flag.
The flag is a symbol, it is not mine, theirs or the president's. It belongs to those who came before us, those living and dead, those who gave some and those who gave all. As long as it is displayed and respected, those few will be able to protest.
Our athletes do what they do for themselves. They don't play for you. They play for the money and the worship. They earn money for 10 lifetimes, then look at the underprivileged and those down on their luck and they take a knee. Why not donate five lifetimes worth of earnings to a fund for those in need? As you watch your beloved athletes, remember there are many more doing much more for a lot less.
'I pledge allegiance to the flag.”
