Letter: Allow fireworks in designated city parks

As the steady drumbeat continues against fireworks, I'd like to point out that thousands of people are buying and enjoying the use of fireworks.
Do they have to sign a petition in support of the law allowing them? During the week before the Fourth of July, a neighbor stopped by asking me to sign a petition against fireworks use in town. I asked her to consider the activity as just another 'sound of the season” and sent her on.
Maybe there's an easy answer for all. Modify the regulation so fireworks can be used within designated city parks only. That way the noise is moved out of the neighborhoods to a safe family friendly environment. Police and firemen can patrol the parks ensuring their safe and proper use.
