Letter: A garage doesn’t define a home

I am writing in response to the Dec. 10 article, 'Cedar Rapids ‘snout houses' in the crosshairs”.
City council member Ann Poe states that garages should not be the focal point of a home. And she's right. It's probably safe to say that the focal point of any home, snout or not, is raising a family to be responsible and active community citizens that have the power to vote.
In any style of neighborhood, you can find people hanging out in their garage, watching the Hawks on their garage TVs and well, being neighborly with their neighbors.
Poe's comments are superficial and rather snotty. Perhaps she should spend some time with snout homeowners and understand it's not a garage that defines what a home is, but the people inside it.
