I was reminded again of the hypocrisy of our elected Iowa Republicans this morning when two articles appeared on the front page of the paper. Why are parental rights supreme and sacrosanct when it comes to childhood vaccinations, though those decisions and choices will affect many (e.g., classmates, school staff, medical practitioners, medical facilities, entire communities), but parental rights are completely irrelevant for medical decisions related to children exploring their gender, though these choices affect absolutely no one beyond those particular families? Hypocritical cruelty, plain and simple.
