Let’s talk, Hawks, about how Ferentz has led our program

I don’t know John Ward (“Brian is on the way out, but Kirk’s departure is past due,” community letter Dec. 11), but it's plainly obvious he has little to no knowledge of what all goes into building a successful program at the collegiate level. Iowa has roughly one-third the budget of the big boys in the B1G, and that doesn't include NIL dollars. I watched a lot of NFL football last week, way more than I usually do, and you know what? I rarely went five minutes without seeing an impact play being made by a former Hawkeye.
It is absolutely mind-boggling how many Hawkeye alums are making an impact in the NFL right now. And who is primarily responsible for that? You guessed it — your boy Kirk Ferentz. Spit all the hate you want, but Ferentz has more B1G wins than anyone not named Woody or Bo. That in and of itself is insane.
Next time you go on the warpath to "Fire Kirk," just remember we are one bad hire away from being absolutely irrelevant on the next level as well as bottom-feeder status in the new age of the B1G. I will take 8-4 or 9-3 every single year with a 11-2 sprinkled in there.
So sit back relax and enjoy the golden era of Iowa football. There is a high probability it will vanish when Kirk Ferentz decides to ride into the sunset.
