Let’s listen to Occupy Wall Street
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I support the Occupy Wall Street movement. I am not sure what direction it will take and what will be the final
outcome but what they are saying needs to be said.
The privatization of government has become complete at every level. “The people” are no longer in charge. Just how much influence do you as a taxpayer feel that you have?
When the Constitution was signed, there was a democracy in the United States. Over the years, money began to influence the system and eventually big business took over. Now it has become so invasive that democracy no longer works. Big business has essentially become the government.
Long before the present recession, we knew the disparity between what chief executive officers of major corporations took home contrasted with the earnings of working people. We didn't say anything then. Now. when the pain is so great, Occupy Wall Street is speaking for us. Let's listen.
