Let's finish the job we started

As I read the front page of April 18, “Flooding hits E. Iowa,” I went back a couple weeks in my mind to an article from the same newspaper that was referring to the drought in Linn County. Long-term weather patterns can be tough to predict, very cruel and devastating.
Then my thoughts drifted to a Todd Dorman column addressing the failed option tax vote to prevent flooding on the west side. I believe he equated the “we can do better” of opponents to “we can do nothing.”
Well, given the fact that the east side protection will become a reality and that every plumber worth his/her salt knows that water seeks its own level, maybe Lisa Kuzela should change her motto from “we can do better” to “we did nothing” to “we can do worse” and then finally to “we did do worse.”
C'mon, Cedar Rapids, this town is in better shape than it has been in years. Let's get together and finish the job we started.
