Let public vote for park board members
The Gazette Opinion Staff
May. 20, 2011 12:08 pm
On May 4, Marion City Council members Mayor Paul Rehn and Craig Adamson, Nick Glew, Joe Spinks and Louis Stark voted in favor (first reading) of having the council appoint members of the park board.
Currently, the park board is three members who are elected by voters of Marion. I have no problem with increasing the members from three to five, but to take away the right of the citizens of Marion to vote for them is not right.
One of the freedoms that this country offers is the right to vote. Marion residents, call City Hall and let them know that you want your freedom to vote for the park board.
