Let casino plans go

It seems that the casino group can't get over being outspent and defeated.
The real problem is that we need more development on the west side of the Cedar River. Why doesn't Mayor Ron Corbett and his financial backers put slot machines and gambling tables in the Paramount Theatre or the Cedar Rapids Country Club and get it over with?
One thing our city government has experience in is 'dealing under the table and stacking the deck” and they just don't think that residents on the west side should be part of the privileged few. We have two casinos within 45 minutes of our town and I, for one, am very happy to go to Tama and assist the only Native American settlement that paid for their own land with their own dollars.
After what our greedy ancestors did to acquire most of North America by 'Manifest Destiny” and outright slaughter of Native Americans and Spanish inhabitants to satisfy their insatiable appetite for wealth and egocentric dreams, it's time to call a time out.
We deserve more than splash pads and lousy streets on our side of town.
