Legislators hypocritical with traffic cameras
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Feb. 21, 2013 12:04 pm
Our Iowa legislators who oppose traffic camera opponents must believe Iowa residents have short memories. Their original opposition to traffic cameras stated the cameras were “only about the money” and “big brother.”
After failing to ban them last year, they now do a 180-degree reversal. Their current legislative efforts would allow cameras, but the money they generate would be diverted from local law enforcement into the state road fund. Talk about a hypocritical rationale for allowing traffic cameras.
How about supporting local law enforcement instead of using them for selfish means?
