Legislators are too busy playing politics

To the editor:
I am disappointed with Sen. Joni Ernst and her staff. What does it take to get a response to letters written to Ernst? My first letter was written April 21. She has a staff who must know her general feelings on issues to share with constituents.
One wonders about her loyalty to Iowans who have lived longer in Iowa than she has been alive. Although she has signed no pledge to you nor I, she did sign Grover Norquist's Taxpayer Protection Pledge on April 18, 2013. My letter has personal tax consequences.
I guess I should have no complaints. After all, I didn't contribute to any political campaign, I am not a favored lobbyist, I am not a member of any political action committee, and I have no political clout. I am only a taxpayer for local, state and nation. Just a longtime voter.
Good luck getting a timely answer from and being represented by the junior Iowa senator. Elected legislators are much too busy playing politics to answer letters from their constituents.
