LED lights blinding
The Gazette Opinion Staff
May. 5, 2013 12:22 pm
Driving home at 9 p.m. April 23, I was traveling north on Interstate 380 on the “S” curve and was almost blinded by the LED lights on the new billboards on the hotel/convention center. Granted, they are just being installed and nothing was moving on them, changing ads or anything, they were just lit up, but way too blindingly bright.
Talk about an accident waiting to happen. I felt this was going to be a problem when I learned these were going to be installed. This curve has been a problem since the beginning, but factor in icy conditions, traffic, distracted drivers, then these big bright billboards, and it seems like a potential problem.
I hope Cedar Rapids leaders take a look at this and rectify it before the lights cause any harm.
