Learn the symptoms, take action on MS

Every day thousands of people with multiple sclerosis, more commonly known as MS, do whatever it takes to continue moving forward. Despite extreme fatigue, impaired vision, problems with balance and walking, numbness or pain and other sensory changes, people with MS have overcome challenges, adapted and learned how to live the best life possible.
MS can affect anyone at any age but there are some patterns. Women are two to three times more likely than men to develop MS. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, although an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 children also live with MS, and people as old as 75 have developed it. There also seems to be an environmental and genetic factor that those with MS have in common.
By sharing stories of success and challenges we bring awareness to this very often undetected disease. It's these stories that bring more understanding of the challenges and inspire action.
So, I challenge you to share your story. Wear orange for MS and become an advocate for someone you care about!
At the Newbo Market in Cedar Rapids on April 28 the Walk MS 2018 will begin at 10 a.m. It's a free, family-friendly activity that makes a year of fundraising, overcoming challenges and celebrating advancements toward ridding the world of MS. Registration is available at http://main.nationalmssociety.org.
