If you're like me, you find it daunting to understand the layers of issues and challenges at state universities in Iowa. Have the regents overreached or are they finally catching up? What obligation do the three universities have to ensure college is affordable for every academically qualified Iowa student? Is there a surge in sexual assaults on campus or are more assaults being reported?
The University of Iowa President Sally Mason is the featured speaker at the next Intersections luncheon on Oct. 3. This will be an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the challenges facing higher education in Iowa.
Intersections is a program of the Interfaith Alliance of Iowa to promote civil dialogue. Intersections is held on the first Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 310 5th St SE. The cost is $10, which includes a soup and salad lunch. Reservations due by Tuesday. Email crintersections@interfaithallianceiowa.org or call (319) 364-6148.
Make sure to have questions for President Mason. I know I will.
