Leadership, not politics, makes Shey right man
Nov. 29, 2009 12:35 am
I haven't hung many - if any - Republicans' yard signs at my place. But Pat Shey won a spot in my yard for this election. Trust me, I'm not moving to the right. Rather, Pat is clearly the best District 3 candidate to represent the interests of my neighborhood.
This isn't about political party; it's about leadership. Pat sees bigger-picture issues. He articulates economic development and financial strategies that will get us beyond this flood-recovery mess and back to being a job-creating economic engine of Iowa. His voting record has been perfectly pro-job, pro-business and pro-neighborhood, unlike his opponent.
The former Republican legislator is the right leader for a non-partisan seat on the city council. I hope my fellow Democrats will see through the negative campaign tactics of Jerry McGrane. His attack ads are right out of the Republican playbook. No thanks. This Democrat is voting for Shey.
