Leadership key to Vernon’s success

I encourage you to support Democrat Monica Vernon in the June 3 primary election.
I have known Vernon for 18 years and can attest to her solid reputation in the community and genuine leadership skills. She founded Vernon Research Group nearly 30 years ago, cultivating it into a strong, nationally known business before selling it last year. Her service has contributed to her depth and breadth of knowledge: the Cedar Rapids Planning Commission, including four years as chairwoman; Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors; chairmanship of the Metropolitan Planning Organization; and two terms on the Cedar Rapids City Council. However, her key attribute is engaged leadership.
Engaged leadership is the difference between someone who shows up to vote and those who engage colleagues, challenge assumptions, find common ground and make thoughtful decisions - not avoid difficult decisions. In my experience, Vernon meets challenges head-on and always follows through.
