Leaders learn from loss and adjust ideas
The Gazette Opinion Staff

The Gazette's Sunday editorial and Brad Hart's guest column are “right on.” Mayor Ron Corbett is a leader. Sometimes leaders need an adjustment in direction.
The fact that the proposal lost by a narrow margin should not end the effort to provide flood protection. Leadership should listen, explore, take note of the reasons people did vote against the referendum and try again. “Never give up.” “If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.” My conversations with others lead me to believe that if the provisions for reducing property tax and providing money for street repairs were removed, then the length of the time needed for the tax would be shortened.
Thanks to those who serve. Rejection happens at all levels. Tweak and move on.
