Regarding James Lynch's Feb. 28 article 'Ernst touts party's work to oppose Obama”:
Congratulations, Joni Ernst. If this is the reason that you were elected and sent to Washington then I say way to go. This is not the song that Ernst sang during her campaign. She professed that she would work with anyone, no matter the party, to get things done. Well, more gridlock and party politics are on tap.
The people who voted for her should be proud of a job well done. She was critical of Democrats for not voting on the bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security. If the bill had not included language on defunding Obama's immigration decision it may have passed. I don't believe that the Republican majority even supported this measure.
Ernst is not what we needed in Washington. We needed something that we have not had for a good long time and that is cooperation. She and the others were sent there and are paid to solve problems not create them. They are there to govern and take care of the people of the nation. They are clearly negligent in their duties.
