I had the pleasure of working with Laura Zimmerman, an at-large school board candidate, for 10 years at Roosevelt Middle School as an ELL teacher. Throughout the years, Zimmerman demonstrated that students were her top priority. She ensured her instruction was impactful and relevant, would go above and beyond to work with students on a social/emotional level, and worked diligently with parents to support their child’s learning. Zimmerman also cared about students’ future by staying in contact and tutoring students who had moved on to high school. Her bond was so meaningful that many students have invited her to their family and social gatherings.
Zimmerman was a professional and supportive colleague. She came to meetings prepared, spoke from the heart, and listened respectfully to others’ opinions. I witnessed Zimmerman help new teachers to develop their teaching skills. This showed me what it was like to be a leader. She gave me guidance and encouraged me throughout our years. It was from her example that I learned how to be a confident teacher and leader of the school.
Her professionalism, compassion, and dedication to education make her an excellent candidate for the CRCSD School Board. I endorse Laura Zimmerman and believe she will bring valuable insight, leadership, and heart to the board.
