Lack of civility cripples democracy

Kudos to Jim Leach for telling it like it is. There was a time when the common good meant something.
During World War II, the majority of Americans made sacrifices because it was the thing to do.
Times are different today but the stakes are just as great. The lack of civility cripples all efforts to bring about solutions to our enormous problems.
We have mama grizzlies and papa bears, talking heads giving up their myopic views of what we the people need to do. Lobbyists of all stripes protect their can't read this word with generous donations to our Congress.
Unless and until we make a unified effort to resolve our differences, we are in peril of becoming a wasted democracy.
