To the editor:
The 6th-8th grade students at Marion Home School Assistance Program have been enjoying their stream studies classes at Thomas Park.
The first week I (the teacher) flagged down a grounds worker, who stopped immediately and turned off his vehicle, giving me undivided attention. I asked him if he could bring a picnic table over to that area so that kids waiting for their parents could sit down.
The next week, two picnic tables were waiting for us. Thanks to the kind response of our grounds worker, students have been able to sit while putting on their hip waders and families have enjoyed picnics there when they are waiting for classes to start.
Kudos go out to our very helpful Thomas Park groundskeeper. You know who you are. You have made our visit to the park especially pleasant.
