Know what Constitution says before speaking
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Feb. 2, 2011 7:46 pm
Tea partisans may claim ownership of the Constitution, but I don't think they know much about it. For example, Tea Party movement leader Michele Bachmann last year asserted that the Census invaded citizens' privacy, but she flip-flopped when informed it was required by the Constitution. She didn't even know that her job depended on the decennial count.
Want to know why? Read the Constitution. You can do so at www.constitutionfacts.com. Then, Tea Party members, take one or more of the several constitutional quizzes on this website. If you can't score at least 80 percent, I don't want to hear any more about how much you love the Constitution.
