Knee-jerk NPR reaction exposes hypocrisy
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 20, 2010 4:16 pm
National Public Radio's knee-jerk reaction of firing Juan Williams over his comments was a mistake. But it was only one decision out of the hundreds, if not thousands, a company will have to make over a year.
Now, Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor and Fox News commentator, is pushing to cut NPR funding and the Republican freedom thieves are following suit. Odd coming from the man who said he “will no longer accept interview requests from NPR as long as they are going to practice a form of censorship.” Hey, Republicans, killing NPR because you didn't like what they said in the termination would be censorship!
Next thing they'll want to do is burn the books because so many dictators have practiced the form of censorship as well.
