To the editor:
You can tell the true character of people in how they handle victory as well as defeat. The Kennedy boys basketball team showed strength of character in a hard-fought loss on Jan. 22 that went into overtime. The way they handled themselves in showing good sportsmanship displayed a positive role model to the many 'Junior Cougars” who look up to them as role models.
It was Poster Night and even though they would most likely have preferred to shower and go home right after the game, each starter and reserve player came out of the locker room and sat along tables to greet their fans. They patiently signed every poster for those who stood in line. They even thanked us for coming out to watch them play.
I am thankful that my grandson, Adam Wall, is a member of this outstanding group of young men who are gracious in being able to play, no matter the outcome of the game. At the end of the line, one of the team members, Drake Brewster, even offered to roll my poster up and put a rubber band around it to make it easier for me to take it home.
It is a credit to their coaches and parents that this outstanding group of players handle themselves in a fine manner and I am proud of how hard they play the game. Go Cougars and enjoy the rest of your season!
