Kash knows city issues

Robin Kash is seeking the District 3 seat on the Cedar Rapids City Council. As a resident journalist, he has spent the last six years videotaping the public meetings of the City Council, school board, county supervisors, neighborhood and non-profit organizations. This has given him a far broader and deeper knowledge of our community than is held by many who have lived their entire lives here. His knowledge of issues was readily apparent at the candidate forum hosted by the League of Women Voters.
I share Kash's conviction that flood protection must be an urgent priority for the city. He holds a leadership position in the Cedar River Watershed Coalition, recognizing the importance of watershed management to flood control. Reducing runoff, in part by using permeable paving, and increasing storage capacity in the watershed would mitigate the impact of heavy rains. He acknowledges that building in the 100-year flood plain is unwise.
Kash will work to strengthen neighborhoods and serve as a conduit for their concerns to a transparent and responsive city council. He will seek to increase the economic vitality of the city.
