Judicial vote, Houser’s defeat not connected

Jim Houser, a 20-year Linn County supervisor defeated in the November election, said of his loss, “I think it was the dynamic of the push for the repeal of the state Supreme Court judges, the way the Branstad campaign painted the whole state as out of touch. It was definitely the year to be on the ballot as a Republican.”
Perhaps Houser should check the Linn County election results. Linn County voted to retain all three Supreme Court judges. In addition, Gov. Chet Culver, Rep. Dave Loebsack and many other Democrats won Linn County. Overall, Democrats fared better in Iowa than most of the country that didn't have a court vote.
Perhaps Houser is looking for a scapegoat. Blaming the judicial race is an easy out that is not backed up by the Linn County election results. This “blame the gays” for election results is getting a little old.
