Joni Ernst doesn’t deserve criticism

To the editor
To those who continue to write letters to the editor saying hateful things about Joni Ernst, you need to look in the mirror.
Nothing said here will change your minds or motives for whatever campaign you're engaged in. So, what is your resume? Did you grow up in rural Iowa? Have you served in state and/or federal legislature? Do you have a loving and caring family? Have you served in our armed forces and been deployed away from home and family in the service of our country?
A couple of you have laid the term ‘traitor' on the page. The New York Times is your standard? Go figure!
Iowans didn't used to behave the way you do. Maybe you're actually brilliant but angry people; or just unhappy with yourself? If you had Bowe Bergdahl on your left and Marcus Luttrell on your right, you would have a tough time knowing who the patriot is.
At least this is one state and nation in the world where you won't lose your head for speaking out. Even Bruce Braley was gracious publicly toward Ernst being duly elected.
Our Constitution and I will defend your right to free speech, even as inconsiderate as it sounds and out of line as it is.
