I moved here in January 1983. I've seen a lot good and bad. Politicians have come and gone. John Thompson isn't like any I've seen. I'm voting for him for a lot of reasons.
A few good things I appreciate in John Thompson are his dedication, his respect for veterans and his inquisitive nature to research an issue before jumping to conclusions, rather than throwing money at an issue. John Thompson is a family man who works with his wife as the fundamental building block of society, the family unit.
John Thompson was willing to give his life for his country. He diligently runs his foundation to honor veterans who commit suicide. John's association with his foundation’s business lets him be so interested in the mental health issues we have. We all have. I think everyone sees the mental health need in our society, veterans, children, people after COVID-19, elderly people — everyone. We need to vote for John Thompson so these issues can be represented in Des Moines.
I see John as a common sense guy who has life experience — from being born in Texas, being in the military, and having a family here in Cedar Rapids. Go look at his website, where he discusses issues such as mental health, lower taxes, supporting small business, education and supporting veterans. It’s pretty sensible.
I urge you to vote for John Thompson. And to research him and support him in whatever way you can.
