Jobs Branstad created were low-paying ones

I live in the Quad Cities and was a little apprehensive sending my daughter, Katie, off to Coe College. A year later, she has settled in nicely and has become active politically. Katie was amazed at how many supporters turned out for Terry Branstad at the Oct. 7 gubernatorial debate. She was amazed because I told her of my memories of the previous Branstad years.
I told her how I lost my job and unemployment at that time was the highest I had ever seen. Forget about current unemployment statistics because most reputable economists agree that although statistically it has stayed high recently, the unemployment benefits extension has kept the unemployed listed as an active statistic.
Whereas in the 1980s, we ran out of unemployment compensation and were no longer a statistic. The 300,000 jobs Branstad supposedly created were all fast food type positions and zero manufacturing.
Chet Culver has worked hard for Iowa with his I-JOBS program and dedication to education. Now you see why Katie and I support Culver for governor this fall.
