Jesus crucified for being ultimate liberal

In his Oct. 24 letter, “Jesus would reject current liberal stances,” Glenn Chatfield falsely claims that Jesus “said homosexual behavior was an abomination.” Jesus didn't say one word about it. The few references are in the Old Testament, alongside other such “abominations” as wearing red clothes, eating pork and seafood, working on Sunday and shaving. Nor was the subject considered important enough to be included in the Ten Commandments.
As for whether Jesus should be considered conservative or liberal by today's standards, consider this: Christian means to be Christlike. Turn the other cheek. Judge not. Love thy neighbor. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Jesus advocated pacifism and loving our enemies. He believed the love of money was evil. He helped the hungry, the less fortunate, the downtrodden and disenfranchised of society.
Jesus rebuked the religious conservatives of his day because they embraced the letter of the law instead of the spirit.
Yes, Jesus was the original liberal, the ultimate liberal, and he was judged and hated and crucified for it.
