Jeff Pomeranz's salary increase is shameful

Regarding the Nov. 22. article “It's not close: Cedar Rapids' Jeff Pomeranz state's highest-paid city manager”:
I have to wonder why the article couldn't mention any outrage in the fact that this city employee gets paid a salary more than double that of the state's governor. Also, Mayor Ron Corbet says we need him to help our economy grow after the flood of 2008. We are coming up on 2014, basically six years after the flood, and we need to flush more than $340,000 down the drain for one man to wave his magic wand over the city and solve all our problems?
First, the gullible voters voted for a 10-year extension for the “destroy the city economy 1 percent sales tax” so they can get their roads fixed after the city threw money at other buildings. Now they give Pomeranz an $11,000-plus raise. Shameful, yet the checks will still be cashed.
