Jeb Bush’s guest column missed the point

Jeb Bush,
I read your Jan. 5 guest column 'Executive orders trample Second Amendment.”
In it you focused on ISIS, not the man who walked into a school and killed 20 children or the man who was invited into a church then shot nine people. Those children and community members are gone. I think you are missing the point.
We spend vast resources to prevent terrorism because we don't want the people of the United States to experience that violence. Multiple acts of terrorism are prevented every year because of common sense limitations and accountability measures for even planning such violence yet you suggest similar limitations on gun ownership are unreasonable.
Before making such bold political statements please take a minute to listen to music from a musician nominated for a Grammy: Ana's Way. The musician's name is Jimmy Greene. His daughter's name is Ana Marquez-Greene. She was one of the children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary on Dec. 14, 2012. Read his loving statement requesting 'common sense solutions”: Jimmy Greene Special Message at www.jimmygreene.com.
Think about what it must feel like to be a father climbing out of the horror of watching his child die or a child who watched his mom leave for a church meeting and not come home. Think about these things with love and compassion, then consider what is more important to protect - the hearts and souls of our families or a few convoluted sentences conceived more than two centuries ago.
