It’s time to conserve our resources
The Gazette Opinion Staff

The supposed leaders of our country make us believe they are here for us; they're not. Paid political endorsees of the free economy is all they are.
A vote for either Mitt Romney or President Obama is a vote for Exxon, AT&T, Cargill and a whole swath of money-grabbing industrialists who put profit ahead of waterways, air you breath and the land you lay claim to. They all talk about harnessing all resources, but not one mentions conservation. Why aren't we employing a few of these ideas?
l Vehicles are required to get 50 mpg or incentives for people who buy these vehicles.
l Solar panel incentives for existing homes.
l Rain barrels, gardens, reverse osmosis systems on every home.
l Incentives for electric car owners.
l Incentives for commuters to ride a bike, moped or ride share.
l Eliminate the bus system or convert to electric/propane.
l Make it mandatory that government buildings have solar and other cost-saving controls.
l Convert seldom-used parks to public garden areas.
