It’s the Legislature’s job to make laws

The media and other advocacy groups like to ask this question: “How has same-sex marriage impacted your traditional marriage?” The question is silly. It's like asking me how abortion affects my relationship with my children. And the question is irrelevant. If you want to know if the court has exceeded its authority, don't ask me about my marriage. Read the Constitution. Then we can talk.
Courts do not have authority to substitute a new law for an old one. Whether or not you personally like the result is not the issue. It is the job of the Legislature to make the new law when the court voids the old one.
Rule of law is not outcome based. It is all about the process as spelled out by the Iowa Constitution.
