Isolationist Romney not what country needs
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jun. 14, 2012 12:14 pm
Massachusetts Democratic state Reps. Cory Atkins and Jeff Sanchez recently made it quite clear that Mitt Romney left a lot to be desired as governor of their state from 2003-07. He didn't keep his campaign promises for more jobs and less debt, leaving the state with a $1 billion deficit and $2.6 billion in debt. Massachusetts was 47th out of 50 in job creation.
Not only did they shed light on the effects of his administration, their personal stories of the governor showed his inability to work with colleagues and average citizens.
From James Lynch's article (“Massachusetts Democrats visit Iowa, rip Romney record,” June 4) you can tell that five years later they're still talking about the “no-show” governor with a “closed-door” policy, which isolated him from those around him, lawmakers and citizens alike.
According to Sanchez, there was no follow through in his policies.
An isolationist work ethic or personality cannot lead to the productive collaboration that is necessary to move a country forward. When more people hear stories about Romney, they realize that he's not the one for us.
