Is Sen. Harkin really listening?
The Gazette Opinion Staff

ccording to a front-page article in Wednesday's Gazette, Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, “ ... hears the grumble of ATM customers when they're charged fees... .” Those fees can range from $2 to $5, the article stated.
That's interesting news, as this same Sen. Harkin did not hear at least one person who repeatedly contacted him about the millions (billions?) of dollars the recently passed health care bill was going to cost us. And I strongly suspect there were more than just one who urged him to vote against it.
Do you suppose his hearing will improve during the remaining four years of his term?
In 2014 (that's a long time and many dollars away), we Iowans will have an opportunity to vote on his hearing. (Remember the health care bill and, especially, the majority party's approach to passing it.)
We do have term limits! It is just up to we the people to enforce them.
