Iowans must take stand against Vander Plaats
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Remember, Iowans:
All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men (and women) do nothing. - Edmond Burke
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world (or Iowa). Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. - Margaret Mead
It is very concerning that Bob Vander Plaats and his group, Family Leader, had the effect they did on the electorate in removing the three justices from the Iowa Supreme Court. And now they continue their campaign to remove the other four Supreme Court justices who ruled in a way they disliked - a way that does not fit into their narrow interpretation of the law of Iowa.
The Supreme Court makes its rulings based on the Iowa Constitution. The court pointed out that all citizens are protected by the state; no Iowan is to be denied a right that other Iowans have.
All of us who value the freedom, safety and security of life in Iowa must inform and enlighten each other of a healthier view for Iowans to consider.
Please read online Micheal Gartner's most informative article, titled “Justice Is Blind,” that first appeared in the Des Moines CityView publication. It is inspirational and supportive of justice for all.
Take a stand. Write letters to the editor.
